<h3 class="subsection">D.8.3 <code>harminv</code> exceptions</h3>

<p>Various exceptional conditions are possible with the <code>harminv</code>
library interface, and one of the following messages could be
returned. Each of them has the form of a list containing a single
character string.

<code>unrecognized harminv function name</code>
is reported in case of a function call of the form
<code>library('harminv',f)</code> where <code>f</code> is anything other than
the character string <code>'hsolve'</code>, this being the only function in
the library.
</li><li> 
<code>bad harminv function call</code>
is reported if the input parameters don&rsquo;t meet the specifications
described in <a href="harminv-input-parameters.html#harminv-input-parameters"><code>harminv</code> input parameters</a>, or if <code>fmin</code> is
greater than <code>fmax</code>. 
</li><li> 
<code>bad vector specification</code>
could be the result of a list of real numbers rather than complex
numbers being passed as a <code>signal</code>. Real numbers can
be converted to complex numbers using the <code>create</code> function from
the <code>complex</code> library (<a href="complex.html#complex"><code>complex</code></a>).
</li><li> 
<code>memory overflow</code>
can occur if <code>avram</code> is operating very close to the limit of host
memory, or perhaps if infeasibly large values are passed as <code>nf</code>
</li><li> 
<code>counter overflow</code>
is similar to a memory overflow
</li></ul>
